DJ COLUM H

It started in the late ’90s with a set of decks in his mother’s back room in County Armagh — long nights learning to mix, blend and work with the music. The inspiration had come through the radio, listening to DJs like Mark Wesley on the airwaves and getting hooked on the whole DJ scene.

By the early 2000s, Colum had moved from the back room to playing for a crowd, landing a resident DJ slot at St Anthony’s Arena in County Armagh, which at the time was one of the area’s best-known discos. He held a regular weekly slot in the main disco, playing weekend nights and building up real experience reading a dancefloor and keeping it moving.

Alongside the main residency, Colum also DJed private parties in The Upper Deck at St Anthony’s Arena, covering birthdays and weekend events and giving him experience of everything from packed disco nights to more personal private parties.

After spending years away from DJing, the pull of the decks eventually brought him back — only this time the technology, and the possibilities, had completely changed.

Today, DJ Colum H broadcasts live from his own studio, with Wednesday Night and Saturday Night Sessions available to anyone with a browser. Sets are also archived, so listeners can come back and hear them again.

The virtual DJ service takes that experience beyond the studio. Instead of simply watching another prerecorded DJ mix, you can book DJ Colum H live for your own party or event, wherever you are. The live set can be streamed straight to a TV or screen, complete with live shout-outs and interaction, while guests can scan a QR code with their phones to send in track requests.

From a set of decks in a back room in County Armagh, to a residency at St Anthony’s Arena, and now to performing live for audiences and private events online — the equipment may have changed, but it has always been about the same thing: playing the tunes and creating a proper atmosphere.
