Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data DJ Colum H collects, why, and what happens to it. It covers this website (djcolumh.com), the booking process and the private event rooms.
Who I am
This site is operated by DJ Colum H, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question or request — including copies, corrections or deletion of your data — use the contact form and it will be dealt with directly.
What data is collected
- Bookings: your name, email address, phone number, event date, start time, duration, event type, guest count, music preferences, celebrant name, any dedication and notes you include.
- Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored on this site. A payment reference and the booking amount are kept so bookings can be matched to payments and refunds.
- Guest track requests: when guests scan the QR code in a private event room, the guest name, requested track, shout-out or message they type is stored so the DJ can read it out live. No sign-up or extra details are collected, and requests are rate-limited to prevent spam.
- Enquiries: the name, email, subject and message you send through the contact form.
- DJ dashboard account: an email address and password for the site owner's admin sign-in only — visitors never create an account.
Why it's used
Booking and event details are used to deliver the virtual DJ service you've paid for and to communicate about your event (contractual necessity). Enquiry details are used to reply to your message. Payment references are used to keep accurate records of sales. Guest track requests exist only for the duration and enjoyment of the event itself.
Nothing is sold, rented or used for advertising, and no marketing emails are sent.
Who data is shared with
- Stripe — processes card payments and refunds. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment data it holds.
- Hosting and streaming providers — the companies that run this website, its database and the live audio stream. They process data only on my behalf to keep the site and streams working.
Data is never shared with anyone else unless the law requires it. Private event room links are shared only with the client who booked — keep them private, as anyone holding the link can open the room.
How long it's kept
Booking and payment records are kept for six years to satisfy UK tax and accounting rules. Enquiries are kept for up to two years. Guest track requests and event rooms are removed with the event data once the event has passed and the booking record expires.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The only storage used is an essential sign-in session for the DJ dashboard, which visitors never interact with.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted where no legal record-keeping duty applies, or object to its use. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Send any request through the contact form and it will be answered within one month.
